Winter is proving to be the best time for walking. Here are some pictures of where we walk, in the vicinity of Manja, Mamounia and our school. Most of the camels have decamped to warmer climes, but a couple of diehards remain, one of whom wears an orange raincoat. The other, a hardier (and woollier) specimen, goes without.

Oh to be in Jebel Welbdeh now that winter's there
ReplyDeleteand a camel wears
an orange coat
where almost all but s/he have fled
and cyclamen bloom unscented
upon the desert air
and Mrs Sandra makes falafels
until she could tear her hair
and the students (lucky things)
plant - surely not African? -olives
which long - since Biblical and Koranic times-
have succoured
poets and the prophets
and offered (not much) shade
to merchants and the pilgrims
in search of trade
and truth.

ReplyDeleteWhat is the white blossom tree in 'Out and About'?
I wonder if you will, years from now, visit your geodesic dome?
I hope so.
One is almost encouraged to hope for the earth from these accounts and photos.
