Dead Sea and Ajloun

I have been a very neglectful blogger of late, so I'll attempt to catch up with a few things from the past month. I'll go backwards, starting at this weekend, when we took a little trip to Wadi Mujib (but didn't climb, trek, paddle, swim or whatever else the more adventurous do). We stayed in the charming little cabins on the edge of the Dead Sea, and watched the sun set in the evening and rise again in the morning. Oh, and had a swim, too - or at least a bit of a lie about on the water. Then to Ajloun, where we stayed in more lovely little cabins, (this time with a bathroom) and tramped about in the forest in the morning.

Did you float high, as it were, in the Dead Sea?

It all sounds lovely except for the 'tramp' - how far exactly?

Oh it is such a - for Australians particularly (the Western Desert and all) so redolent. (I hope I have got the geography more or less right).

It is still autmny here. But fading into winter.

I posted a comment but Typepad came back at me.

    You are a pilgrim.

Is the little girl whom the Virgin descended to now special?

Honestly the atmosphere could not be more pious than at certain sessions at the Sydney Writers' Festival. One could get very vulgar on occasions.

Have and am working like a fiend to meet deadlines for competitions. All futile and I'm sure Shakespeare wrote a sonnet about it.

But hey, it' s a choice or a compulsion so who's complaining.

How much is the white camelette?

Do you think Clover would let me keep it in Rushcutters Bay Park? It needs a white camel.

What are the requirements of camels?

I did read Robyn Davidson's book years ago but all I remember is the dog died of snake bite despite the fact she swung it around her head many times by its hind legs. And despite the fact the camels were always trying to bite her and kill her and did repulsive things with their gorges she thought they were witty. So what would she know?
